business so give a call to pick up your favorite burger today. Attire is casual and bathing suits are welcome!
Nothing fancy at Duffy’s, that’s what keeps the customers going there for all those years I imagine. Hours are from 11AM to 8PM and they are closed on Tuesdays. It’s a legend on Anna Maria Island (as was Mom, Pat Geyer). Duffy’s continues to offer beachgoers an island attitude in a ‘character’ surrounding. Stop by and see why USA Today calls it “an institution.”
A few favorite items that have been enjoyed over the years is the Jalapeño Cheeseburger, Caramelized Onion Brie Burger and Pulled Pork Carolina-style. Also try the Homemade Pastrami Sandwich, Smoked Beef Brisket or Roast Beef Sandwich as well. Very popular is the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and their Mahi Fish Sandwich They also serve a variety of spe- cials daily that are very people pleasing, do check them out. Wow, not just burgers anymore! Enjoy the casual lifestyle on AMI and there’s no better place for many Islanders and tourists than to make plans to chill at Duffy’s Tavern on Holmes Beach at 5808 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach (941-778-2501). Many thanks for being a Taste Dining & Travel advertiser for 30 years in every issue!
The charming Waterfront Restaurant at 111 South Bay Blvd., in Anna Maria (941-778-1515), has become a desti- nation for all sorts of people looking to enjoy great food, fine wines, full liquor, and world class lagers and ales. Whether you choose to dine inside enjoying their 500 gallon saltwater aquari- um, or outside on their lovely deck or garden courtyard, you are guaranteed a beautiful view of Tampa Bay, Egmont Key, the new Anna Maria City Pier and the Sunshine Skyway. Their regular menu is based on the finest products they can find and updated seasonally. They are prepared in classic form, with emphasis on fresh, natural flavors. Most customers will recognize favorites – picatta, au poivre, pesto, mojo, and other styles.
Owner Jason Suzor is very involved in the restaurant and he, along with his staff do an amazing job. They devote one page of the menu daily to unusual items and special presenta- tions, where the staff’s creativity can be explored. They practice the old formula – finest product, classic presentation, with the addition of more unusual and seasonal items with cutting edge techniques. They try to find fresh fish that are an underutilized local species, and showcase them with fitting complements. Local fishermen provide The Waterfront with quality seafood on which their fare thrives. This leaves them with a well-rounded menu including items that nearly all customers are familiar with, plus an outlet for more adventurous and traveled diners to expe- rience the best and brightest available product in their market. You can even bring your own catch to them and they will gladly prepare it for you!
They have a full liquor service with a fantastic variety of craft cocktails offered by the knowledgeable bartending staff including Rodney Rich and Jonathan Anasis, who are a pleas- ure to watch behind the bar mixing the various award-winning cocktails.
