Kojo opened its
doors in downtown
Sarasota in early
2021, it became a destination for those seeking creative flavors and welcoming hospitality. From the vibrant modern Asian menu, to the inventive cocktail program and sake collection, it has raised the bar for the Sarasota restaurant landscape.
Kojo is not just a destination, but a memorable journey. The restaurant is inspired by the vast and varied cuisines and cultures of Asia, and
is based on two decades of travel
by owners Mark and Natalia Levey. Attention to detail can be found in every corner of the space, from the warm wood tones and soft lighting to the Instagram-worthy moss walls. This, combined with a warm and vibrant ambiance creates a layered, sensory journey. Enjoy the action of the open kitchen from a cozy booth, relax under the stars on Palm Avenue, or enjoy the intimate fire-lit lounge.
Meanwhile the beverage program from award-winning beverage director David Roth is a reason to visit on its own. While incredibly complementary to the food, the cocktails blend flavors that are at once unconventional yet rooted
in the classic cocktail recipes we know and love. The Black + Gold, a variation of a “whiskey sour” with hazelnut and sesame, is both savory and refreshing and a perfect complement to many of Kojo’s dishes.
On the menu, Kojo effortlessly blends familiarity with innovative, bold new flavors in signature dishes such as the Tuna Pizza, Nori Tacos and Mushroom Hot Pot.
Brunch selections (served on Saturdays and Sundays) provide yet another opportunity to be transported into culinary nirvana, from Okonomiyaki (a traditional Japanese savory pancake) and
Poke Bowls, to a Fried Rice Omelette and a fun spin on Fried Chicken and Waffles.
Kojo is conveniently located below the Palm Avenue city parking garage, so parking and inclement weather will never be an issue.
Mark and Natalia are the
owners of Hi Hospitality Group (hihospitalitygroup.com), which also owns the two locations of award-winning Speaks Clam Bar, and an upcoming food hall/restaurant called Central Park St Pete.
