Cheers to 30!
Welcome to ‘Season’ 2022! This is a year unlike no other in so many ways...I don’t have to remind you...Our area has exploded with new residents who have found what many of us have known all along, Florida is THE PLACE TO BE!
Nearly 25,000 people have moved
to Sarasota last year and with that
comes a test for our infrastructure
with more cars, homes, people
and...more restaurants! It is a dou-
ble- edged sword as with more din-
ing choices you might have noticed
that many restaurants do not have
enough staff to keep things going
as smoothly as they could be. The hospitality industry has a lot to deal with right now as I am sure many of you who dine out have noticed - staffing, supply chain and rising costs. Please be patient as everyone in the business is trying their best to keep you as pleased as possible but some things are just more difficult now. Let's hope it can smooth out in the near future. (FYI it is this way around the country as well as in England when we were there in January). Be thankful, not grumpy.
Within this we feature one of the most vibrant of dining areas, Downtown Sarasota. So much to offer here with theaters, art, culture, traffic! and yes restaurants. As we mentioned New Restaurants are still opening by the week and we have the latest for you in our regular fea- ture. Our Andy Abramson has two features this issue including his regu- lar WineScene featuring an article on Spring wines to enjoy as well as a Wine Country Travel: Get the Most From Your Visits.
Our Chef’s Profile features Gaetano Cannata of Ortygia restaurant, and we also present a few classic photos from our archives from the past 30 years. Join us over the next few months as we celebrate with a Progressive Dinner and a special Downton Abbey event. Join our mailing list to learn more. Wishing you a hopeful spring with peace, healthy dining and safe times ahead for all.
