key lime pies are famous sellers. Comfort food is the primary word here with breakfast items offered including a variety of egg sandwiches, scrambled eggs, Mediterranean Breakfast Wrap and Crème Brulée French toast. They homemake their pancakes using a traditional recipe by melting butter and use whole milk.
New here is their healthy menu with cage-free eggs, nitrate free bacon and ham, locally sourced produce in season, local dairy from Dakin Farms in Myakka City and non-GMO sprays used in their cooking. Lunch items like the Chicken or Tuna Salad on a wheat, Spinach Salad Wrap served with an artisan lettuce salad or a Philly Cheesesteak, help make up a menu of lunch choices all made fresh in house. How about a Spinach Salad with grilled chicken on top or a great Cuban Sandwich (amazing when I was there recently), Hamburger or Grilled Chicken Club? They offer wine and beer, (in their famous frosted mugs) and Ginny & Jane E’s is a terrific place to meet and eat with the locals, enjoy free Wi-Fi and shop till you drop everyday until 4PM.
Looking for something beachy? Try their shop next door called the Beach Hut where you will find those necessities you need to help you stay comfortable when you are playing in the sun and sand. At the Beach Hut they provide beach supplies, like suntan lotion, sun- glasses, flip flops and other items to help you have fun and stay com- fortable while at the beach. New here is the slow-churned ice cram cones from Edys, yummm!
Hometown Desserts began in 2007 as a business that sup- plied cake for family and friends. The foundation, however, was laid 50 years ago when owner, Cindy Tutterow was born into a family of southern women who loved to cook. As a child, Cindy spent many days standing in a chair, pushed up to the kitchen counter, watching as her mother and grandmothers lovingly created delicious meals. In the summertime, Cindy, along with her mother, grandmother and sisters would sit around the kitchen table and peel peaches in preparation for canning or grate fresh coconuts to make homemade cakes. These are the special times that shaped the enjoyment she has for creating her own homemade treats today.
Over the years of Cindy’s dedicated and hard work, Hometown Desserts has grown into a thriving company that provides delicious desserts to wholesale and retail customers in the Bradenton/Sarasota area. Great care is given to developing and perfecting each dessert – many of which started in a southern kitchen years ago. New restaurant clients include the Anna Maria Oyster Bar Group, The Chiles Group Restaurants, Ocean Star, Gulf Drive Café, The General Store and The Feast. Do call them for any wedding cake ideas as well. During a recent conversation Cindy told me that her wedding cake business is very strong as events are coming in on a regular basis. Great news!
Enjoy their signature dessert, a key lime coconut cake which is offered at the above local restaurants. Cindy and her crew also offer deli- cious fresh baked scones. They are celebrating over nine years at their Anna Maria location and business continues to grow and grow. Case in point is their second location at 5120 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton (941- 896-9735). They will have been open over four years now. Great that they are now on the mainland and can serve their local following from there as well every Monday through Saturday 10 to 6. Also to them winning the
