the Gulf Coast, where the sun shines bright and the Island atmosphere blooms. Having a total of 14 tables, with 32 inside and 32 outdoor dining seats, this quaint little restaurant has become a beautiful spot to spend both the afternoon for lunch and evening for dinner.
Chef JoshFosterhasbroughtmanyofhisfavoritesinasspe- cials over the few months of being open. Here are some honorable mentions: First, Scallop and Shrimp Linguini, using fresh seafood, home-made pasta and the chef's original pesto cream sauce. Second, a delicious Pork Tomahawk Entree, topped and grilled with a raspberry chipotle barbeque sauce, with the recommended accompaniments of the garlic parmesan mashed potatoes and seasoned asparagus. Third, a Cajun Shrimp and Andouille Entree, as one could imagine, has a deli- cious heat within. This entree is served over rice and the Chef’s signa- ture roasted red pepper cornbread. With his wife and co-owner Brianna Foster they both aim to provide a memorable dining experi- ence through the highest quality foods, flavors, and service.
Being only open from July 2nd 2021 the restaurant has con- tinued to explore avenues to make sure there is always something new and tasty on the menu. With big ambitions behind their menu, they look forward to the upcoming months and years to come, inviting you on their journey.
You know how it is when you finally find that special hidden gem of a restaurant and it becomes “your place,” causing you to return to again and again? This is the case with Mean Deans Local Kitchen at 6059 26th Street West, Bradenton (941-251-5435) with Owners Dean Donnelly and his wife Michele Angell. They have transformed a long vacated space into a great neighborhood bistro and have created a buzz in town. While not in an area known for having many dining options, it really is easy to find just one block north of Bayshore Parkway on 26th Street West, in a plaza with lots of parking. When you first walk through the doors, you will feel as if you have arrived in a trendy downtown restaurant.
Dean is the Chef here, so he is the creative force in the kitchen. His recipes are all made from scratch and he utilizes the two large chalkboards to showcase daily creations. He has been in the restaurant business his entire life and has owned restaurants in the past, including Cedar Reef Fish Camp in Bradenton and Venice for eight years. He also bring a vast knowledge of wine, having formerly been Wine Director for Flemings Prime Steakhouse. Michele also owned and operated Cedar Reef Fish Camp, and well as being an accomplished pilot! The restaurant seats 130 and serves wine from around the world and craft beer from local breweries, all quality here.
Chef Dean buys ingredients, not products. Emphasis is on fresh, local, homemade chef created entrees at affordable prices. They not only serve the regular menu, but are able to create specials on a daily basis using seasonal ingredients. Dean and Michele created this restaurant to be a neighborhood place, somewhere that they them- selves, would want to eat. “The response from our neighborhood has been overwhelmingly positive. We already have regulars who come in almost everyday,” says Michele.
Great news here is that soon they will be expanding the size as they have taken over the next door Peach’s Restaurant to add another dining and events room, expanded kitchen and a new full liquor bar!
