Extremely popular and well-deserved is Mean Dean’s Local Kitchen in South Bradenton
Bradenton and Venice. He also brings a
vast knowledge of wine, having formerly
been Wine Director for Flemings Prime
Steakhouse. Michele also owned and
operated Cedar Reef Fish Camp, and well as being an accomplished pilot! Chef Dean emphasizes fresh, local, homemade dishes at afford- able prices, “I buy ingredients, not products”, says Dean. They created this restaurant to be a neighborhood place, with a varied menu that they themselves, would want to eat. “The response from our neighbor- hood has been overwhelmingly positive. We have many regulars who
come in almost everyday,” says Michele.
Great news here is that soon they will be expanding in size as
they have taken over the space next door to add another dining room and a full liquor bar with craft cocktails! How fantastic! Estimated completion will be this fall. They currently offer local craft beer and wines from around the world with an eclectic wine culture people love, including their popular prix fixe Wine Dinners every 6-8 weeks.
Also to be enjoyed is their Sunday Brunch (try the Salmon Benedict!) and what would brunch be without mimosas? Michele’s favorite is the Hibiscus and Lavender. I also like their hidden cozy fire- place room for small gatherings with friends. A gold glitter bar also adds to the stylish ambience. Mean Deans Local Kitchen is truly a gem you must experience for yourself!
Hometown Desserts began in 2007 as a business that sup- plied cake for family and friends. The foundation, however, was laid 50 years ago when owner, Cindy Tutterow was born into a family of southern women who loved to cook. As a child, Cindy spent many days standing in a chair, pushed up to the kitchen counter, watching as her mother and grandmothers lovingly created delicious meals. In the summertime, Cindy, along with her mother, grandmother and sisters would sit around the kitchen table and peel peaches in preparation for canning or grate fresh coconuts to make homemade cakes. These are the special times that shaped the enjoyment she has for creating her own homemade treats today.
Over the years of Cindy’s dedicated and hard work, Hometown Desserts has grown into a thriving company that provides delicious
